The ZE 5 is the smallest twin-screw extruder in the world and was developed specifically for applications where material is very valuable or only available in very small quantities. Batches as small as 1 gram enable precise trials and fast iterations. This makes it particularly suitable for pharmaceutical development, active ingredient formulations or functional food innovations. Despite its compact design, the ZE 5 offers the same options as larger systems: precise temperature control, flexible screw configuration and versatile dosing options. The split barrel allows direct access to the process and reduces cleaning times to a minimum, which is particularly important for frequent recipe changes.
